1929 Kingsbury No.322 Aerial Ladder Truck. The only spring motor driven; large size ladder truck made. This particular model was one of 100 that were made exclusively for the J.C. Penny’s Dept Store using the “Little Jim” decal. This truck is the same as #259 (1926) except this one is powered by the mechanical spring motor. I don’t have the crank (key) to wind the motor, but it looks like it would take a 3/16″ square socket. Heavy Pressed Steel body with steel ladders. Aerial ladder raises to a height of 45″ and is mounted on a turntable so that it is adjustable to any angle. Original white rubber tires are vulcanized on, an exclusive feature on Kingsbury Toys. 34″ long, 8.5″ wide, and 8.5″ high. Weighs just over 14 lbs.
This truck comes with its Original Wood Shipping Box with Kingsbury Toys, Toy No 322, Motor Driven Aerial Ladder Truck, etc. hot branded on one end of the box. Pretty Rare to have the box with a 1929 Toy! Box is 35″ long, 10″ wide, and 9.5″ high. Box weighs just over 8 lbs.
